This photograph was taken as part of a self portrait series featuring the artist as the model. During the time of its creation the artist had been grieving a recently ended relationship. The heightened emotions at that time inspired the artist to focus on introspection and reflect upon the personal struggles he has faced internally. The artist chose the symbolism of a blindfold on a half exposed body to represent his desire to be vulnerable with the people around him and simultaneously his fear of letting others see into soul. Furthermore, the blindfold itself portrays the artists personal experiences in his life regarding insecurities. Overall this portrait is a display of how the artist views their internal struggles with self isolation, insecurity, anxiety, vulnerability and self deprecation.
