As dramatically striking as it is, that was exactly the artists intention. This photograph was always meant to give pause and serve as a blunt reminder of the possibilities that haunt students, teachers and parents in the United States. A few weeks after this photograph was taken a fellow student at the artist’s high school tragically passed away. The artist has since struggled with the decision of whether or not he could ever share this artwork in good conscience. Although this photograph began as a simple chocolate milk stain on the floor and a reluctant model it was eventually shaped into a dark critique of gun violence by the artist. Overall, this piece demonstrates how easy it can be to have a negative outlook on life and a reminder of the ever important issues this nation faces.
